Movie Review: I Love You, Man
62A few days ago I wrote a hub about my most anticipated movies of 2009. Read it HERE. Top of the list is I Love You, Man, which came out on Friday, March 20. I loved this movie, man. It's not filled with raucous, belly busting laughs, but it is full of endless awkward moments that make you smile.
I Love You, Man is about boy-friendless Peter Klaven (Paul Rudd) and his search for a best man. Peter is described as a "girlfriend guy," a man who never had any guy friends growing up because he spent all of his time and energy on women. When he proposes to his girlfriend Zooey (Rashida Jones), he's worried that a groomsmanless wedding will upset her. So, he goes off in search of a best man and what he finds is a best friend, Sydney Fife (Jason Segel).
I Love You, Man perfectly captures what it's like to make friends when you're older. You don't have Mommy to call the neighbors and set up play dates, and you don't have school to force you to hang out with classmates and get your homework done. When you're older, you have to work at having friends. Peter isn't great at this, and turns to the internet and his Mother to set him up with some guy friends. His Mother sets him up with a guy who mistakes Peter for a homosexual, and Peter's internet friend turns out to be an eighty-year old lonely man. Peter has little luck finding man love until he meets Sydney Fife.
Paul Rudd is deserving of the leading man status that he has in this flick. For years he's played the goofy side kick, and it's great to finally see him as the leading funny man. Also extra hilarious in this flick is Jon Favreau, the husband to one of Rashida Jone's best friends who gets barfed on by Paul Rudd on poker night. Paul Rudd clearly can't hack typical man activities. Thank goodness he finds Sydney Fife, the only other man in Los Angeles as obsessed with Rush as he is.

It sounds like a cute way to spend some time in a movie theatre. Thanks for the review.
