Knit, Knit, Knit, I LOVE to do it!

One of my favorite hobbies is knitting. Yarnworks make great gifts for everyone: baby shower gifts, hats and scarves for the winter months, and of course the always popular knitted socks! Every knitter out there knows that knitting can be a pricey hobby, especially when using high quality yarn and always looking for new patterns.

Here's a list of helpful websites with free patterns, knitting tips, and fairly priced yarns! Go forth and knit!!!

Knitting Pattern Central

Knitting Pattern Central is the number one website for free knitting patterns. New patterns are constantly being added, so you'll be sure to find something that you'll love. Knitting pattern central has hundreds of patterns for baby, bath, bedroom, pillows, gloves, socks, scarves, coasters, dishcloths, jewelry, legwarmers, hats and many more. It's as easy as clicking the appropriate links and you're automatically redirected to the pattern! Some patterns are preceded by an asterisk (*) which means that they must be downloaded in PDF format, and some are preceded by a plus (+) sign which means that the website you'll be redirected to will require free registration to that specific site. Have no fear, there are only a select few patterns that require this extra work. Filling out all of the free registrations is worth it because most of these sites come with a newsletter full of knitting tips and tricks!  Knitting pattern central also gives tips n' tricks, encouragement and testimonials.

For the crotchers out there, there's also a Crotcher Pattern Central.

Stitchbook

Stitchbook is a Facebook application where you can find and discuss patterns with other Facebook users addicted to knitting AND crotcheting.  Stitchbook is a place where yarn lovers come together to share their patterns and their progress on the items they are currently working on.  This application is a great way to make sure you stay on top of your projects.  Afterall, your yarn followers want to hear about your progress!

Ravelry

Ravelry is one of the most popular knit and crochet websites out there.  Ravelry is a community for yarn lovers to join knit/crochet groups, participate in forums, blog, and shop!  Ravelry is also a great place to stay on top of your prjects because these yarners are super serious and they want to see what you can do!  Ravelry can be a bit daunting at first to navigate because there are so many functions on the website.  However, after some browsing I trust you'll be just fine.  Use the forum if you need any help.  These artists are willing to help you find that perfect pattern and perfect yarn!

The Daily Knitter

This website has knitting help and knitting directions like most knit sites, but The Daily Knitter has a very helpful tool: STORE LOCATOR.

Visit the yarn shop directory to find yarn stores in your area.  Simply choose your state and voila, you'll be driving to a yarn store near you before you know it!

Knitting Tips by Judy

Youtube is a great site for knitting because there are a lot of expert knitters out there wanting to help you become a better knitt!!  Knitting Tips by Judy is a great youtube channel with tips and tricks of the trade to help you become the best knitter you can be.  Her videos are clear and easy to follow.
